FutsAl Technical Training Sessions

Technical Training Sessions For Ages U6-U19 – All Levels of Experience!

Overview of Futsal

arrow

Futsal is a 5-a-side version of futbol played on a hard flat surface (court) just a bit bigger than a basketball court, with a smaller, low-bounce ball. Futsal was created in Uruguay in the 1930s as a way to play futbol indoors. It spread quickly throughout South America and is widely acknowledged as a key factor in the development of talent there as well as in Spain and Portugal. Players like Iniesta, Messi, Ronaldinho, and Neymar Jr. all played futsal when they were young and recognize its role in their success in futbol.

Futsal is a great sport on its own merit and its popularity is growing in the US and across the world. In the US we now have both a men’s (est. in the early 1980s) and women’s national team (est. 2024) for futsal and we are looking forward to the first ever Futsal Women’s World Cup in 2025!!

Benefits of Futsal

arrow

Futsal is widely recognized in the US for its value in technical and tactical development for young soccer players. The parameters of the game (small-sided, low bounce ball, no walls, limitations on GK, 4 second restarts, etc.) help develop certain skills better than other versions of futbol. Here are a few aspects of the soccer game that Futsal is particularly good at developing:

  • technical ability in tight spaces
  • 1v1 ability (attacking and defending)
  • movement off the ball to create space and unbalance defenders
  • quick decision making
  • precision passing
  • creative and opportunistic finishing
  • combination play in tight space
  • defending in 2s and 3s
  • GKs reaction speed and ability/comfort with their feet.

CSA Futsal Technical Training 2025-2026

The CSA Futsal program has been implemented and created into CSA as an “add on” program for your child’s development as a soccer player. The programs are set up to so they don’t interfere with your current club team schedule.

Futsal Technical Training is appropriate for all experience levels for ages u6-u19. Focus is on individual technical development and ball mastery. Perfect for any players who want to want to focus on improving their technical ability through futsal.

  • Training blocks of 5 sessions per block offered. 5x1h training sessions. $125 per block or $400 for all 4 blocks. Make-up sessions will be available upon request.
    • Block 1:  Sundays from September 21-October 19
    • Block 2: Sundays from October 26 – November 23

He has a smooth gliding motion to his game as he covers ground, from a technical perspective he excels when in possession of the ball. His passing and ball striking abilities allow him to have a major impact on his team’s performance. He is a grounded young man that is a true team player and gives 100% effort in everything he does.

October 2025

Kylie Taylor, 2010 Charlotte SA National ECNL G: Kylie has been in great form as a forward lately for her U16 Charlotte SA G10 ECNL team (as well as our U17 Girls ECNL team).  Kylie scored an important goal playing up an age group for our U17’s in their big 3-1 win vs. NC Courage on Sun. For the youngest player in the group, she is well respected by her teammates. Ayla’s work ethic and athletic abilities make her one of the top players on her team. She is currently her team’s leading goal scorer so far this season. Ayla has always been a humble person who is reliable and trustworthy. August 2025

Benjamin Shine, 2013 CSA York King: Benjamin Shine brings positive energy to trainings and focus to games. Benjamin, otherwise known as “Benji” to his teammates, had a clean sheet throughout the 2024/25 season, up to our last game, where one slipped through. Benji takes command of the field, motivating and directing players during matches.  Benji’s protection of the goal is nothing short of making him one of the best in his age bracket, where he showcases skills of getting big in front of the net, having stellar reflexes with kick saves and dives, as well as having a ball played back, and distributing accordingly. Benji continues to perfect his art by attending the keeper trainings as well as working outside of team trainings on his own. In the past month, Benji has shown more growth playing 11V11 for his first season and protecting a bigger goal by cutting down angles and playing outside the box to help the team clear the ball. Benji was key in winning the CSA DSG Tournament in our age bracket, allowing only two goals in the four games played. This recognition is well deserved, as he has been able to give the teams he has been with an upper hand as their keeper.

Nadia Houdek, 2013 Charlotte SA Blue RL: Nadia is an exceptional player for her age. Her understanding of the game is extremely high as well as her technical skills. She has moved beyond just playing the game to understanding and knowing the game on a higher level. What really makes her such a good player is how great of teammate she is and the effort she puts into every training session and game.

Sebastian Rendon, 2013 Charlotte SA National ECNL: Sebastian has helped the team start the season off very competitively. His creativity and drive has contributed to quite a few goals already! He is helping others in the team push the level of intensity in training to get more out of ourselves each day.

Sydney Harper, 2014 CSA Charlotte Elite 1 G: Sydney and her teammates have gotten off to a fantastic start this season. They’re currently undefeated and just won the CSA Invitational. July 2025

Sasha Blackwell, 2012 Charlotte SA National ECNL G: Sasha was instrumental (as were several of her teammates) in our U13 Girls ECNL team qualifying for the ECNL Finals in Richmond, VA on July 18-19 where they ended up losing 1-2 in the Semifinals vs. San Diego Surf. The team won their group at the ECNL Playoffs in San Diego in late June where they advanced and won their Round of 16 game to advance to Richmond. Sasha was very impactful as a 2-way player and leader for her team. – Brian Moore, Director

Sydney Sullivan, 2014 CSA Matthews Liga G: Over the past year, she has shown remarkable growth as a player and consistently demonstrates a genuine love for the game, her teammates, and the spirit of having fun. Sydney has been a true force on the field, bringing both energy and focus to every practice and game. Her dedication, consistency, and drive to improve make her a valuable team player and asset! – Andy Guevara, Director

Giacomo Patria, 2015 CSA Charlotte Pre-ECNL: Giacomo is a skillful and hard working young man who is entering his 3RD year in the CSA Charlotte Pre-ECNL program and will be playing on our U11’s next season. CSA Futsal Programming

CSA Futsal is back for 2025-2026!!

CSA is pleased to announce the return of high quality futsal training for our members. If you are not familiar with the CSA Futsal Program, here is a quick introduction:

Overview of Futsal

Futsal is widely recognized in the US for its value in technical and tactical development for young soccer players. The parameters of the game (small-sided, low bounce ball, no walls, limitations on GK, 4 second restarts, etc.) help develop certain skills better than other versions of futbol. Here are a few aspects of the soccer game that Futsal is particularly good at developing:

  • technical ability in tight spaces
  • 1v1 ability (attacking and defending)
  • movement off the ball to create space and unbalance defenders
  • quick decision making
  • precision passing
  • creative and opportunistic finishing
  • combination play in tight space
  • defending in 2s and 3s
  • GKs reaction speed and ability/comfort with their feet.
