Fall 2026 Recreational Soccer
Welcome!
Lots of changes this season! We have a new look AND a new registration system AND new age divisions from US Youth Soccer!
- US Youth Soccer has returned to age divisions that more closely align with school grades. Check with your teammates prior to registering! Click here to review the age division communication.
- We have moved to LeagueApps for registration. If you have a player in our competitive program, summer camps, or futsal, you may already have a League Apps account.
- All families should be prepared to upload proof of birth for every player in their account during registration.
- Start with the specific registration links provided in the program information below, then set up your account!
- As with any big change, there may be some glitches or errors! Please click here to let us know so we can make corrections!
CSA’s Recreational soccer program is open to boys and girls of all levels of ability. This is our “grassroots” program and utilizes volunteer coaches, primarily parents of our players. There are no player evaluations or tryouts – everyone who registers is placed on a team. Teams are formed based on registration and requests.
CSA offers Recreational Soccer in two primary regions: South (Charlotte Region) and North (Concord). Practice and game fields vary by age group.
The Recreational program includes our Junior Academy program in South Charlotte and Concord. Junior Academy training pools are formed each season based on evaluations of players that show interest and aptitude for moving to our competitive program when older. Ages and availability vary.
In addition to team practices, we offer optional, free technical skills training sessions for ages 6U to 12U in several locations (Schedule TBD at this time). An optional pre-season camp is available to interested players at an additional cost. Information on both will be provided at a later date.
Please use the PLUS SIGN + to expand the sections for more information.
South Region Recreational Programs for Ages 4-18 (Charlotte region)

Check the information below for an overview of programs by age at each location. Practice and game locations subject to change based on availability of City and County-owned fields.
Formation of teams is dependent on sufficient enrollment and availability of volunteer coaches. We are always in need of coaches! Please volunteer to coach your child’s team!

Policies and Registration Requests
Cancellation and Compensation Policy
Practice Requests: Some locations have a single practice night option. If a program is offered on multiple nights, parents can indicate one night that their player is unavailable for practice. For extenuating circumstances, or if your child has limited availability, contact us for options PRIOR to registration.
Siblings: If siblings are at the same location, we will make every attempt to assign them to the same practice night if possible, considering their other requests. If they practice at different fields, we will assign them to different practice nights to ensure a parent can be present for practice.
Friend requests: Soccer is more fun with friends! However, requests are limited to one friend and cannot be guaranteed. Team sizes are limited. Some teams are over-requested, and not all players can be accommodated. Please be prepared to make an alternate selection. If a group of players wishes to be on the same team, a parent should volunteer to coach.
Coach/Team/Group requests: Requests are not guaranteed. Team size is limited. Some teams are over-requested, and not all requests can be accommodated. Please be prepared to make an alternate selection.
- Do not contact the coach to get a spot on a team. Coaches do not select players or have input on team formation.
- Do not show up to a practice or a game unless assigned by CSA Staff.
Play Up/Play Down Policies
Requests must be made EVERY SEASON.
Because our age groups span 2 years or more, we generally recommend that players remain in their true age group.
Players born within one year of the older age group may request to “play up”, but it is not guaranteed. All requests are considered on a case-by-case basis and are dependent on space availability at the requested age group. Please contact pkeen@charlottesocceracademy.com for more information. Please complete all steps promptly to avoid the waitlist!
We will consider requests for playing down in very limited situations. Please email pkeen@charlottesocceracademy.com
– Medical/developmental concerns on a case-by-case basis.
– U8 to U6: If you are interested in having your child to play DOWN from U8 to U6, we will consider requests on a case-by-case basis for new players only.
Volunteer to Coach!
CSA Recreational Soccer is always accepting coaches!
We rely on over 250 volunteer parents, grandparents, and other adult coaches each season to support the demand for our recreational program. Come join us! Discounts available for head coach’s child.
Director of Coaching Keith Wienke provides all our coaches with weekly lesson plans and guidance and hosts a blog with a wide variety of coaching resources. Lesson plans include age-specific skills, training activities and drills for the entire season. Keith also provides ongoing support as needed for coaches throughout the season.
Preseason Coach Meetings: Prior to each season, a coach meeting is scheduled for equipment distribution, field training sessions, and Q & A.
Dates TBD.

- It is mandatory that all CSA Coaches pass a background check through the North Carolina Youth Soccer Association and complete the required abuse prevention program.
- You must be able to coach approximately 9 weekly 1-hour practice sessions.
- You must be available to coach games on primarily Saturdays, with some Sundays.
- Coordinate team communication or designate a Team Parent at your first practice to handle game reminders and other CSA email updates in a timely manner.

- Communicate any issues right away to Courtney Magee cmagee@charlottesocceracademy.com or Keith Wienke at kwienke@charlottesocceracademy.com
- Follow CSA Code of Conduct Policy at all times.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Soccer Shots: Partners for Ages 2-4 (Concord and Charlotte)

Soccer Shots is working with Charlotte Soccer Academy to offer an excellent program for 2 – 4 year olds. With a team of experienced coaches, Soccer Shots’ mission is to create a fun, safe environment for children to learn the game of soccer in a way that will positively impact them both on and off the field.
The MINI program is for two year olds, and the CLASSIC program is for three and four year olds; both will be offered at several CSA locations. Soccer Shots has curriculum specifically developed for each age group that is developmentally appropriate and infused with enthusiasm and structured activity. Each session is led by a Soccer Shots coach; however, the Mini program does require one parent/guardian to be on the field with the child. The Classic program does not require parent/guardian participation – please feel free to sit back and cheer on your child
Together, CSA and Soccer Shots will provide an amazing experience that will not only improve your child’s soccer ability, but will introduce them to team building concepts, character building words, and a whole lot of fun!
